Success Story – Rosemary Greene with her instructor Pavel Lebedev
“When I began lessons with Pavel, we focused on performing a showcase so I didn’t spend a lot of time on learning proper technique. Now Pavel and I are correcting that.
My first impression of video lessons is that it is an excellent method for teaching technique, especially if it’s recorded so the student can review – and then practice over and over. The session is interactive so the Instructor can explain and then demonstrate a technique and the student can ask questions. The Instructor can then watch the student try to repeat the technique and give feedback/corrections in real time so the student knows immediately exactly what they’ve done incorrectly and most importantly how to correct it.”
Success Story – Bryant Hankins with his instructor Brianna Nalyvaychuk
“I was very happy with the quality of the online lesson! We were able to make important corrections to my rumba and cha cha all over video chat. It captured much of the spirit and value of an in-person lesson. Definitely a service I will use going forward.
Highly recommended!!”
Success Story – Jill Wold with her instructor Caleb Aleman
“The online lesson offers an exceptional way to drill down to the specifics that we often brush over in face-to-face lessons. It’s all about the details. We spent a lot of time refining and perfecting open breaks and underarm turns—my head position, weight shifts, foot placement, upper body movement. This work was incredibly valuable, and it felt good to take the time to focus on small movements that make all the difference in my lines and presentation on the dance floor.
“Dancing” with an online partner forces me to learn to perform my routine on my own—one of the most important lessons for an amateur dancer. This was not new information for me; but as a follower with a strong leader, I have tended to be unforgivably lazy in learning and practicing routines on my own.
The takeaway:
Virtual lessons in the real time format are not just about staying in touch with your instructor and remembering your routines. They offer an unparalleled opportunity to explore new facets of technique, learning, and performance. These online lessons will improve my dancing immeasurably.
I can’t wait until my next lesson.”
